But using bikes for transportation goes far beyond bike paths. We have spent a lot of time and effort in Champaign-Urbana (IL) finding the best routes for bikes to create or C-U Area Bicycle Map. How do we get information about bike lanes and bike-friendly streets into Google Maps? Currently, the routes it is suggesting are not close to being the best.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;Response from RTC: Dark green lines are trails, light green lines are bike lanes and dotted lanes are designated bike-friendly routes. The roughly 8 miles of paved trails here offer excellent recreation and conditioning. I do a little handcycle racing and the hills in our region are a great way to stay ahead of the competition.
